Today In History - March 20

ON this day in history...

...2003, Kate Moss extolled the virtues of motherhood, having given birth to daughter Lila Grace five and a half months earlier.Speaking at the opening of a new play she told the Daily Express:"It may be hard, but you should never let anything put you off motherhood."

...2006, Claudia Schiffer was awarded damages from the publisher of a book written by her former cook, Sophie Mitchell. The book carried a quote from Claudia on the cover, "We love Sophie and everyone loves her cooking, too", with the supermodel's name printed in the same-sized font as the author's, possibly implying that it was a co-written project. However, the quote was taken from a private letter that Claudia had written to Sophie's mother when the cook worked for her in London and she never gave permission for it to be used.Publisher Cassell was ordered to pay damages to Schiffer and Mitchell subsequently declared herself bankrupt.

...2007, Naomi Campbell began her five-day community service sentence in New York's sanitation department after pleading guilty to assaulting her former housekeeper. The supermodel arrived wearing black leather stiletto Louboutin boots, skinny camel trousers and an A-line black coat - with her flat worker boots slung casually over her shoulder."Miss Campbell arrived on time to work. She came ready to work and we have plenty for her to do over the next five days," Albert Durrell, deputy chief of the Department of Sanitation told Sky News at the scene.
