Keira Becomes A Disney Fairy

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY is set to star in the forthcoming live-action Disney production of The Nutcracker, reports the BBC, taking on the role of The Sugar Plum Fairy.

While it isn't yet known if Knightley will have to perform the famous dance associated with the role (which first appeared in Tchaikovsky's 1892 ballet), she will have the counsel of esteemed and celebrated ballerina Misty Copeland, who is also set to star in the film, if she does have to take centre stage.Other confirmed co-stars at this stage include Morgan Freeman and child star Mackenzie Foy, according to IMDB.

Knightley is one of a growing list of Hollywood actresses who have signed up to Disney movies.Emma Watson has wrapped filming on Beauty and The Beast, which is slated to be released next year, while Reese Witherspoon is reportedly set to play the title role in Tinker Bell.

For Knightley, however, it won't be the first time that she has revealed her additional talents to her acting.In 2008's The Edge of Love and 2013's Begin Again, the Oscar-nominated actress showed off her singing ability, while she is no stranger to energetic and lively productions thanks to her work on The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
