Beatrice Boyle For Browns Focus

Having been snapped up by Browns Focus, fresh out of London College of Fashion, to design a capsule collection of graphic printed T-shirts, tanks and T-shirt dresses, fashion illustration graduate Beatrice Boyle isn't just one to watch, she's a name to know."I was initially studying a degree in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins but during my time at CSM I realised I saw my artwork in the context of fashion and transferred to London College of Fashion to study a degree in illustration," explains 23-year-old Boyle."I graduated in 2008 and it was at the degree show in June at the Royal Academy, where my paintings were exhibited, that Simon Burstein from Browns approached me.The next day I got a call from Jemma Dyas at Browns Focus, who spoke to me about collaborating on designs featuring my artwork."And the rest is fashion history.Taking inspiration from her original paintings - which were created from ripped images from fashion magazines and advertising campaigns - for this capsule collection, Boyle photographed people and, through a process of collage and painting, created large scale artworks."Working with Browns Focus was incredible. It's renowned for its recognitipn of up-and-coming, cutting edge designers and I have always loved visiting the store on South Molton Street," says Boyle, who is currently planning an exhibition in London later in the year.
