Ralph Rucci Leaves His Label

RALPH RUCCI has left his eponymous company.The designer, who launched his Chado Ralph Rucci label in 1994 before dropping the "Chado" last year, hired a new CEO earlier this year as the company prepared to expand internationally, becoming more "accessible" and "modern".

The company said that the designer is leaving to "to pursue other creative endeavours", although Rucci has not revealed what his next step will be, saying only:"I have great expectations for the future.I can't wait to take the next step, and I wish everyone at the company well."

"We recognise the contribution, vision and talent of Mr Rucci, and wish him well," Joey Laurenti, Ralph Rucci LLC's chief executive officer, told WWD.Laurenti confirmed that the label will engage a new creative director before the end of the year.

Rucci is by no means the first designer to lose control of a label he created - despite it bearing his own name.Roland Mouret, John Galliano, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, Jil Sander and Danielle Issa - among others - have lost the rights to use their name to their controlling companies in recent years, with many of them speaking of the pain it caused them.
